Weather is one of the biggest factors that determines the success of your hike. One moment you may warmed by the sun, and the next, peppered with pellets of ice. It's important to have an accurate weather forecast so you are not caught in a compromising position.
Below, we've attached some links to important sources of weather and trail conditions information, as well as a video outlining how to protect yourself in a storm. We will talk more about mountain safety in a future email, but we've included two safety-related videos, as well, as a small preview.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
You will be hiking through two countries and they both have their own weather forecasting service. Thankfully, they're quite good. Click the links below to find the weather forecast for your current region. (We recommend bookmarking them for easy access.)
Mountain-Forecast.com provides information on current conditions of peaks in the area where you will be hiking. Just choose your preferred peak on the map and then, on the peak's "Forecasts" page, choose the correct elevation for your hike.
MeteoSwiss also provides a hazard map that shows meteorological and other natural hazards in Switzerland. Just choose your preferred map and your current region.
Ask your hotel reception and hut wardens about current route conditions. Most of the accommodations, especially the mountain huts, have some of the most up-to-date information on trails, including potential dangers.
AVALANCHE DANGER
The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research provides an excellent resource for avalanche danger levels in Swiss territory.
